Game title: Aki's Journey Home
Genre: Language learning game
A creative output project inspired by the readings in the course CTL5054 (Indigenous Literatures) and a children’s book, "Stolen Words" by Melanie Florence. The game is meant to be anchored to a story to draw the user in and in turn, learn a new language, in this case, Ojibwe. It also touches on intergenerational disconnect and how it’s important to remember our roots.
In Aki’s dream world, she is a video game character tasked with figuring out clues and learning the Ojibwe language by talking to side characters within the game. At the end of each level in order to pass it, she must answer a series of questions. When she has answered them all, it is only then she may return home.
Game title: Shadows of Aerendil
Genre: High-fantasy RPG
Shadows of Aerendil is a single player action-adventure RPG that takes place in a fantasy world of a Kingdom called Aerendil. In this world, there are dark shadow creatures that have taken over many parts of the Kingdom, starting with the mystical forest. The player is Henry, a young man who was injured badly but had been saved by the guardians of the forest. To repay them for their kindness, Henry sets off on a quest to find the crystal of life to purify the evil shadows that spanned across the forest.
In this game, the player will fight enemies, discover hidden chests, and complete side quests, and more!
